Oh Canada!

The GNP saga continued with a wonderful welcome at the Canadian Border. We were met with guns in our faces with the border patrol on high lookout for the Bonnie and Clyde couple that escaped from an Arizona prison. (sorry no pictures, what were we thinking) They checked our car to insure they were not on board and then let us pass to our glorious destination of the pristine waters of Waterton. 

A little known fact is that Waterton and Glacier National Park became the first international peace park in the world.  This is historic ground folks.

The first thing we saw after setting up camp as we went on a hike was this mother black bear and her cub. Oh Canada!

Crypt Lake Trail

This trail was one of the coolest hikes I have ever done. You start with a boat tour to the trail head. Then you hike through dense forest. Then you're out in the open and see multiple cool waterfalls. Then you hike through a natural tunnel in the mountain. And you hike in both Canada and the U.S.

It is called Crypt Lake because the lake empties out through a crypt in the rock to splash a few hundred feet over the edge of this cliff.

 A grizzly bear this time. We luckily caught him scratching himself like a dog.

Above on the left is the U.S. - Canadian border. They clear this border every eight to ten years. Wild....and what a waste of tax dollars.
