The trip turned out to be at a perfect time. The weather was amazing, the snow had just melted off the trails (it wa a big snow year in Washington unlike here in Utah), my parents received their mission call to Nauvoo, Illinois, Mt. Rainier was clear the day we visited, and my parents are awesome.
We started out the trip visiting the Seattle Pacific Science Center and visiting King Tut's Gold and the Pharaohs of Egypt.
These were around King Tut's fingers and toes. The pharaohs believed the Gods skin was make out of gold, so this is why their masks and even fingers and toes were covered in gold when they were burried. Crazy toes.
That same day after visiting King Tut we headed to Chinook pass and hiked to Dewey lake, then to Anderson lake, then to American Lake. It was great for my Dad and I to do this trail since this is where I grew up and learned to backpack. We have hiked it so many times that we know every turn. I also remembered why I learned to love camping and backpacking. There is nothing better than the pacific northwest. I miss that country!! This is why....
My dad and I had a blast. When my mom came and picked us up, she had in hand their mission call. It was fun to watch them open up the letter and be surprised to find out they will be going Nauvoo, Illinois in March.
Thank you for coming, Brent. And, Ashley, it just wasn't right without you here too. The pictures are beautiful and will alwasy remind us of this awesome place we have lived in and loved.
