Going to the Sun Road - GNP

We arrived after dark to Glacier National Park (GNP) only to awake to a cloudless sky and some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. We took well over a hundred pictures just on a road less than fifty miles long, so sorry for all the pictures, but not really. This is what we woke up to at our campground at Fish Creek at the west side of the park.

The Going to the Sun road is one of the main attractions of GNP and a must do. We did many of the little hikes just off the trail. The camping throughout glacier has very strict guide lines on food because of bears and on our first hike of the day this was the warning sign we saw at the trail head.
This sign was posted on every trail head.

Sorry about a picture of a random toilet, but really, who is this toilet for? No, not a man but this was found in the women's restroom. It was as if they needed one more toilet in the park and this was the only thing they had. Weird, unless you like to squat.

The Highline Trail was epic and just an amazing hike for views and to take in what Glacier is really like.  We started the hike at Logan Pass and went as far as we could before we felt like we needed to turn around so we could enjoy the other side of the pass and get to camp before night fall.

This animal should not be confused with a badger, so no need to be scared it is only a marmot up close and personal.

We visited the visitors center at the top of Logan Pass for a quick stop and than we went down to the east side of the park to go see St. Mary's and Virgina Falls.

We ended our day adventure at Saint Mary's Campground and this bridge turned out to be really cool.

  1. Awesome pictures--we remembered a lot of those spots. Really liked the flowers stuck in there.
